Reunited

This is Perry.

Remember how all my gadgets have names? This is a peristaltic pump unit, Perry for short, that I put together for unattendish* yeast collection from the fermenters at Kickstand Brewing Co, where I used to make beer. It can pump up to ~2 lpm full speed, and it is spun by a stepper motor, so both speed and total number of revolutions are easy to control. With the right controls and calibration, one can set it up to, say, collect 10 liters and then stop. It’s currently set up with a one-shot counter that does basically that on power up. Indispensible to the busy brewer, what? Despite that, my old boss Scott asked me if I wanted it, as they aren’t using it anymore. Zoom! said I, and my old pal and I are together again. I might fancy up the controls a bit, as I am currently doing a lot of coding for other upcoming gizmos, but as it sits it’s quite the handy tool.

*Yes, it’s a word. A new word, and right useful.
