We are beer experts; we’ve dedicated much of our lives to earning everything we can about beer and beer culture around the world. One thing we know for sure- beer is for sharing. We’ve tried to use our knowledge to present you with the best experience of every aspect of our beers, beginning with recipes and process, to conditioning, temperature, glassware, and service. Not everyone thinks consciously about the temperature of their beer, or the quality of the foam, and on and on, but it affects perception of the beer. We think about these things, a lot, so you don’t have to if you just want to enjoy a beer. We know beer, and will talk beer until doomsday with anyone who wants to, but we’re not going to be all smarty-pants about it. Sometimes you just want to have a beer, you know?
These are the beers we’ve brewed to date; for beers currently available, refer to the sidebar.
U Czeku – Czech Dark Lager 5.2% 30 BU
Known as T’mave in Czech, this dark lager has a pronounced roasty aroma and flavor, underpinned by malt flavors of caramel and toast, balanced with just enough hop bitterness to make it seriously quaffable. Good with seared/roasted proteins, but also sweets.
Ramotswe Red – Amber Ale with Rooibos Tea – 5.6% 30 BU
Named for Precious Ramotswe, of the Ladies No. 1 Detective Agency series of books, who enjoyed her Rooibos. This beer is a deep reddish amber with a pinkish tint, 5.6% abv, malty, with balance provided by both hop bitterness and tannin from the tea. Rooibos provides a floral, fruity aroma and flavor to the beer.
Feastbier – Pumpkin Amber Ale – 5.7% 20 BU
Brewed as our take on Amber Ale for the Detroit Beer Project, this is a hearty, malty ale that includes BBQ roasted pumpkins and a teensy bit of spice in addition to more traditional ale ingredients. A hint of smokey flavor enhances the rich malt, and the pumpkin lends a pleasing orange tint to the beer. Conceived as the beer to accompany a Thanksgiving feast, it is jolly good with hearty food, or all by itself. Full Pour $7 Half Pour $4
Pork Chop – Traditional Bock 6.7% 23 BU
Bock beer originated in the north German town of Einbeck, but in modern times is produced mostly in Munich. By convention it has an alcohol content of ~6.3-7.2%. It is reddish brown, malty and strong, but not sweet, and the elevated alcohol strength is not apparent; think Dunkel on steroids. (“Pork Chop” was a favorite uncle’s nickname, who greatly enjoyed this beer.) Full Pour $7 Half Pour $4
Helles Keller – Munich Helles 5.2% 24 BU
Helles (pale) lager, Munich-style, served unfiltered from the keller (cellar.) Similar to its well-known sibling Pilsner, but with less hop bitterness, giving more of the spotlight to the fine German malts. Malty, bready, with a fresh yeasty aroma and pleasant spicy hop flavor. Atmospherium Saison 7.1% 28 BU
Sadly, “Atmospherium, the rarest of all elements” does not really exist, so this Belgian-style farmhouse ale doesn’t contain any. We did our best to evoke Atmospherium, however, imagining it would create a spicy, effervescent, lightly fruity, dry and crushable beer

Uncle Dave’s Rye Peppercorn Pale Ale 5.6% 30 BU
We added aromatic, fruity, zingy Tellicherry black pepper to a citrusy American pale ale. It’s a great pint by itself, and a fine accompaniment to a wide range of comestibles

Bla Bla Ginger 5% 8 BU
What if we made a basic American Wheat beer? Boring, that’s what. What if we used a sh!t-ton of fresh ginger instead of hops? Zing! Many exciting food pairing possibilities, too

Pugnacious Porter 5.9% 30 BU
Black and moderately roasty with a light layer of wood smoke, and balanced with a bittersweet hop character from Centennial hops, courtesy of Top Hops Farm in Goodrich, MI. Despite the robust flavor, it finishes light and dry. Excellent with sweet and savory things alike.

Shetani 9.8% 38 BU
Inspired by the classic Belgian ale Duvel (Flemish for devil,) this is a golden colored, generously hopped ale with spicy and fruity flavors from both the fermentation and the hops. Like the saison, it is highly carbonated, and deceptively strong in alcohol.
